The Peninsula Club and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council recently made a combined $20,000 donation to the Rochester Football Club to help their post-flood rebuilding efforts.   Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Graham Pittock and Western Bulldogs Chief Operating Officer, Robert Stubbs presented the funds in Rochester recently.

The much needed funding will support the Club to rebuild their facilities after January’s flood, which saw more than 80% of the town go under water.  In the wake of the floods that swept Victoria and Queensland the Peninsula Club, in conjunction with Rotary and the Peninsula Club community decided to bring a little bit of good to a bad situation.

Working with the Rotary Club of Dromana and the Dromana-Red Hill RSL, which is housed within the Peninsula Club, a special event began to take shape with the goal of raising funds for the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Flood Relief Appeal & the Queensland Flood Relief Appeal.  A total of $5,000 was raised, half of which was donated to the Rochester Football & Netball Club and $2,500 to the Queensland Premiers Flood Relief Appeal.

“It’s thanks to our loyal and growing clientele that the Peninsula Club is today able to help our friends in northern Victoria affected by the floods,” Western Bulldogs CEO Simon Garlick said.

On top of the $2500 donation from the Peninsula Club, the Mornington Peninsula community donated $17,500 to the Rochester Football Club including a donation of $10,000 from the Hidden Harbour development in Safety Beach.
